About

The Edit Has a Point of View.

This is not a blog that tells you everywhere is wonderful. Some restaurants earn their reputation and some don’t, some cocktail menus have a genuine point of view and some are just expensive fruit juice. The After Dinner Edit exists to tell the difference — honestly, specifically, and with the kind of detail that actually helps you decide where to spend your evening.

I’m based in Houston, and I travel often. Both inform what you’ll find here: reviews of local spots that deserve the attention (and a few that don’t), city guides built around eating and drinking rather than sightseeing, recipes designed for the table rather than just the kitchen, and hosting guides for people who take the details seriously.

The scoring system is simple: Ambiance, Menu, Drinks, and Service are each rated out of five. The Edit Score is the average. No rounding up to be kind.

The best evenings are the ones that feel considered. That’s what this is about.

Restaurants and bars, scored across four categories. Local and from the road. Honest when something misses the mark.

Dishes designed for the occasion, not just the plate. Each one comes with a hosting note and a tip worth knowing.

Entertaining

How to host without the stress. Tables, menus, timelines, and the small things that make an evening feel intentional.

The Edit

City guides built around eating and drinking. Curated, opinionated, and short enough to actually be useful.
